Symmetrical Balance means that it is the same in both sides. If you were to cut the picture in half, it would be the same as the other side. Asymetrical Balance means that both sides of the picture are unequal. I Think visual balance in art is important because it gives the picture more meaning. Also because it gives the picture a more artistic flavor, then if it wasn't it would be normal and average. Visual Balance captures more attention and that's why it's important.
